What an Opportunity!

I have been so blessed the last two days!! Glen and I hosted The Art of Marriage DVD Seminar at church. We had eight couples in attendance (counting us)! It was nice to take time away from our schedule and focus on ways to build our marriage. If you get a chance to attend one of these FamilyLife seminars, do it! It will aid in building a deeper marriage where God is honored!

My Knight in Shining Armor...

Psalm 18: 1-3, 6

1 I love you, O LORD, my strength.
2 The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,
my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
3 I call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised,
and I am saved from my enemies.
6 In my distress I called upon the LORD;
to my God I cried for help.
From his temple he heard my voice,
and my cry to him reached his ears.

May you spend time this Valentine's Day with the greatest of all loves, the LORD!

A Busy Week

Man, time has flown by this week. I can't believe that Friday is almost over. It's been an amazing week with the Lord. I've been preparing for Saturday's Bible study on 1 Peter 2:1-10. I spent a lot of time researching what a royal priesthood is and God's Word has touched me in many ways! I never really thought about all the implications and have often skipped through some of these passages.

Verse 5: "you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ"

As part of the royal priesthood (a believer in Christ), I:
  1. have an elect privilege
  2. am cleansed of sin
  3. am clothed for service
  4. am anointed for service
  5. am prepared for service
  6. am ordained to obedience
  7. am to honor the Word of God
  8. am to walk with God
  9. am to impact sinners
  10. am a messenger of God
(The above list is from the MacArthur Study Bible and Commentary).
I am so thankful to the Lord who continually teaches and guides me as I go through this world onto the one he has awaiting for me!

    And Time Marches On....

Have you ever thought about where you would be five years from now? Jump back five years in your life and see where you've come from. Five years ago today (Feb. 4) was Superbowl Sunday. I went to church and hung out at the Superbowl Party and Chili Cook-off afterwards. How do I remember this you may ask. It was a day that changed my life - the day my son was born.

For those who remember, my son is adopted. I didn't know it at the time, but God had this baby ready and waiting for me. The following Tuesday (Feb. 6), my hubby was taking me out to lunch. I was depressed and concerned for our family since I had not worked in 6 weeks. I had quit my teaching job before Christmas vacation to focus on building our family relationships. Our adoptive daughter had been with us 8 months and needed some special attention. I wanted a part-time job while she was at school and Glen was at work. That wasn't God's plan. His plan included this little boy to be part of our family. Our children are biological half-siblings and have been a great joy!

While Glen was driving to lunch, his cell phone rang. It was our social worker asking us if we would be interested in taking a baby boy into our home. Of course we said YES!! The worker then told us to pick up our son in about 3 hours! Our church was amazing and helped organize everything we would need for a baby. My daughter and I hit the stores while Glen went to pick up the package! It was a crazy wild time. I wouldn't change it for all the world!

2 days old - fresh from the hospital
Now, my little man turns 5 today. Where has the time gone? Where is that little baby I rocked and cuddled? I consider myself blessed to have both my children in my life.

    2 weeks before 5th birthday
I wonder what God has in store for the next five years. Whatever it is, I know it will be full of His goodness!

    Birthdays and Groundhogs

Growing up in Western PA, I know and remember all the hype about Punxsutawney Phil and Groundhog's Day. We always wanted to know whether winter would be around for six more weeks. Phil did see his shadow today and predicted more winter. However, for our family, February 2nd, holds two birthdays - my brother, Bub's and Glen's sister, Heather.

I can't believe my brother has been gone for almost three years now. He would be 63 today if he was alive. Bub loved a good laugh and teased me mercilessly while I was growing up: I am several years younger. He loved hunting and fishing and always had a good story to tell. I miss him very much. Happy birthday, dear brother; you are greatly missed!

Glen's sister, Heather is an amazing woman. I cherish our relationship and admire her for many things. I was blessed with the opportunity to live with her for a few months before marrying her brother. I am honored to call Heather my sister and friend! Her love for the Lord and the family is an inspiration to us all. Happy birthday, Heather! We love and miss you too!
